INDEPTH - EDUCATION

Congresswoman Heather Wilson and Education
New Mexico schools are in need of more teachers, classroom and building repairs, additional recourses for libraries, and computers for students. With a state budget approaching $1.8 billion for education and financial troubles for states nationwide, federal assistance has never been more needed. New Mexicans need help from Congresswoman Heather Wilson, but they are not getting it.

Heather Wilson continues to claim that education is her top priority. Here are the facts.

  • Cut Title I funding for schools by $4 billion
  • Cut state programs for social services (including education) by $36 million
  • Teacher funding cut
  • Class-size reduction programs cut
  • School renovation cut
  • Votes against the National Education Association 66% of the time
  • The National Hispanic Leadership Agenda gave Heather Wilson an 18% on their congressional scorecard.
  • The National Association for Bilingual Education (NHLA) gave Heather Wilson an 25% on their congressional scorecard.

Education needs to be a more serious priority for New Mexico's congresswoman.
